The five-day Child Centered Risk Mapping (CCRM) program designed for the school students by CIUD, in collaboration with UNICEF Nepal, has been successfully conducted in two schools, Kumudini Kunj Secondary School and Jana Pravat Secondary School, both in Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

The seventh grade participants were trained on identifying the various possible risks during their time at home and the schools and preparing the risk assessment to document them. Also, they were made knowledgeable about poster presentation, power point presentation, opinion poll collection, mapping and water sample collection using P/A vial. The program also highlighted the importance of drinking water safety during the monsoon.

Over 70 students from both the schools seemed enthusiastic and excited about learning on risk mapping and water sample collection. While some students were happy to learn about the mapping, others were excited about the water quality testing as it was completely new for them

CIUD is conducting the CCRM program in another eighteen schools of the metropolitan.

During the program students also shared the risks that are personal to them such as sexual abuse, bullying and maturational issues. The program is designed in such a manner where every students gets chance to participate and share. The final product “RISK - MAP” will be disseminated to the ward officials, school and local stakeholders by the individual school’s children who were involved in the program, soon.
